Sharebuilder Commissions Reduced to $5.95 for Costco Members

Costco members now have a permanent reduction in commissions with Sharebuilder.  Trades now begin at $5.95 per transaction.  That is almost as low as the premier discount brokers;  OptionsHouse and SureTrade.  The new rates are much lower than Fidelity, Etrade, and Schwab.  Just link your Costco membership with your Sharebuilder account to see the new commission structure.

Buy and sell stocks, mutual funds and exchange-traded funds (ETFs) whenever the time’s right-with market, limit and other orders. Away from your computer? No problem. Place $5.95 trades on the fly with your smartphone or tablet.

There’s no catch
This isn’t a limited time offer. We are simply reducing the price for online trades for Costco members. We aren’t making additional changes or adding other fees. Our easy-to-use investing tools and clear guidance are staying free. Now we’re just offering an even better value.

Fine Print:

1For complete information, see our Pricing & Rates.
1Low-Priced Securities: In addition to the base commission, we will add a $0.007 surcharge per share on market and limit orders when the average execution price per share is less than $1.00. The total commission (base commission + surcharge) is subject to a maximum of 15% of the principal amount of the trade, but no less than the base commission.
2With ShareBuilder’s Automatic Investment Plan, there is no minimum investment requirement to buy stocks and ETFs; however, when investing through the Automatic Investment Plan the investment amount does need to exceed the commission cost for the trade. If you invest in mutual funds, there is likely to be an investment minimum required by the fund family.
Automatic investments are recurring or one-time purchases on Tuesdays. All sales are made with market or limit orders and are subject to applicable commissions.
Fidelity does not charge a fee for automatic investments in Fidelity funds or No Transaction Fee (NTF) funds. After the initial investment, a $5 fee is charged per automatic investment into a transaction fee fund. Other regular mutual fund fees may also apply.
The Schwab Automatic Investment Plan: You can make automatic investments only in an eligible fund in which you are already a shareholder. Once you have made your initial investment in a fund, additional shares may be purchased through AIP in amounts of at least $100. If an investment frequency is not specified, your investments will automatically occur monthly on the 5th. Quarterly investments occur in January, April, July and October.
3$1000 minimum can be waived when customers agree to transfer $100 monthly to their Charles Schwab brokerage account using Schwab MoneyLink.
